One of the few true opera houses left in Kansas and the mid-west region. Unfortunately, the city has been forced to declare this structure a dangerous building and has advocated its demolition. However, recent interest in the building as a tourism destination may have encouraged the city to reconsider. The Kansas Historic Theatres Association is working with the property owner to save the structure. It is currently vacant and in need of a new roof.
Update: The Strong City Council voted to purchase the Strong City Opera House and the owner has agreed to sell. The City will begin by replacing the roof on the building and plans for a full restoration.
2022 Update: The Strong City Opera House renovations have picked up speed and we hope to see this landmark make a comeback!
