The hotel was built in 1890. The non-profit Stilwell Hotel Heritage and Education Foundation bought the building this summer during a foreclosure sale.
The building has been winterized to protect it from the elements but the Stilwell Hotel foundation will have to stabilize the front of the building by next spring. The hotel was places on the NRHP in April 1980.
